EVENT OVERVIEW

 

The Golf Channel Amateur Tour's 2020 Senior National Championship heads to the beautiful Pacific Northwest for the first time in Tour history!  Sunriver Resort, located just south of Bend, Oregon, is the host hotel and venue.  In keeping with the history of the championship, qualifiers from all across the country will compete on four terrific golf courses:

 

Sunriver Resort - Crosswater
Sunriver Resort - Meadows
Sunriver Resort - Woodlands
Widgi Creek Golf Club

 

The National Championships are individual, 72-hole stroke play tournaments.  Qualifiers from across the country will converge on Bend, Oregon in spirited competition to crown a National Champion in each flight.  Registration for the Senior National Championships will open in May 2020


HOW TO QUALIFY / EARN ELIGIBILITY

All players approved to compete in the Senior National Championship must be both Qualified and Eligible.  While any current and active Tour Player may apply starting on May 1, each contestant must be both Qualified and Eligible prior to be being accepted into the National Championships.  In addition, players must be 55 years of age or older as of December 31, 2019 and be flighted as a Senior Player during the season.  

 

ELIGIBILITY

Each participant at the National Championship must be "eligible."  In order to be eligible, a player must have completed seven (7) rounds on Tour during the 2019-2020 season and at least two (2) of those round must come on/after June 1, 2020.  A completed round is a completed 18-hole score on Tour.  

 

QUALIFYING

 

In addition to beling eligible, each participant must also be qualified.  The following are the qualification categories for the 2020 National Championship in order of priority:

 

A) Past National Champions
B) Top 5 and ties from 2019 National Championship
C) Top 3 and ties from a Major Championship during the 2019-2020 season
D) Any 3-time tournament champion during the 2019-2020 season
E) Any player who earns a Performance Promotion during the 2019-2020 season in their promoted flight
F) Top three, not otherwise qualified, from their home Tour Points List
G) Top two finishers & ties, not exempt in another category, from the local (home) Tour Championship
H)  Top 33% of each flight per Tour

 

Eligible and Qualified Players must be a member in good standing with the Golf Channel Amateur Tour.  A position in the field is not guaranteed and is limited to the first 600 qualified and eligible applicants.
